Name:
[/u] Inessu "Moriko" Tireip [/center]Age:[/u] 23 years of age
Gender:[/u] Female
Trainer Type:[/u] Neutral
Appearance:[/u]
Moriko (as she likes to be called) has short, choppy black hair and navy blue eyes that pierce into your soul. She wears earth-toned colors, being dark green and shades of brown. She wears an orange-brown shirt with a dark brown shawl (tied together with silver-colored string) and a forest green scarf that ties once around her neck and then falls behind to her beltline. She has a one-strapped backpack, a rosewood fabric with silver metal to hold it in place. She wears a blue Poketch and her green gloves have dark brown fingers. Her pants are a solid forest green, held in place by an oak-colored belt with another silver strap. She prefers to carry her modern grey Pokedex around in her pocket rather than risking it in her backpack. Somethings are too valuable to be stolen.
Moriko has a small frame and a flat chest; some think her to be a teenage boy, and she usually doesn't correct them; better not to be recognized when the profile of a young adult female is on a Wanted Poster. She's not overly muscular or thin, but she is lean; her arms have muscles adept for sprinting, parkour, and keeping away from enemies. However, her right arm is stronger from throwing Pokeballs.
Personality:[/u]
Moriko is a thief. She doesn't steal Pokemon or kidnap, but she always finds herself stealing in through a window late at night to take a nice watch or perhaps a silver necklace, which she will hoard until the ordeal has been forgotten and she can sell it to an unwitting shopkeeper. Because of her career, she doesn't get much love, and she doesn't give much love back to the world... in general.
It is rare to befriend her, as she usually never stays in one place very long. She does not care about the whole "Team Universe" thing, figuring as it doesn't directly affect her. She will often flick a few of her earnings towards someone down on his luck, (in currency, of course, not stolen goods)which has gotten her a good reputation among the lesser people in the cities. She doesn't get much kinder than that, having a sarcastic demeanor to everyone, be they equals or above her. However, if she sees somebody being mugged or assaulted, she'll step in to help with either words or violence.
She tends to solve her problems literally with both fighting and taking flight; if she cannot overtake her enemies with a well-strategized Pokemon battle or intimidation, She'll run down an alleyway and run for her life. Through experience, she knows the mappings of all of Kanto's major cities and would use the landscape to make her escape. From this fight, flee, and insult lifestyle, Moriko lives a rather solitary life.
History:[/u]
Moriko had lived in Kanto since she was a little girl. She was one of the lesser families who lived in Viridian City. Her mother was the sole worker in the local Pokemon mart, and most of the people who shopped there barely had enough money to buy anything, anyway. Unless, of course, they were on the way to the Pokemon League; this was a rare occasion, but was the saving grace for her family when it came. They would stock up on supplies from Victory road, and would feed Moriko and her family for weeks. It was only her, her mother, and her father; they didn't have all that much money, but her parents were happy. Moriko was not.
Moriko saw the rich people who came in from places like Saffron and wore jewels upon their clothes. The ones who were well-fed, healthy, and had no worries. She hated these people, for some of them were cruel to her mother, and they would never help those who did worry about the future.
Occasionally, the Pokemon Mart that would offer a rented room to those traveling when Moriko's family was particularly low on money. This detail is important in the next paragraph.
One night, one of the men was particularly cruel to her mother. He just happened to rent a room the next night, after a spectacular failure at Victory Road. The man had forgotten how rude he was, but Moriko hadn't. Late that night, when her mother, father, and the man were asleep, she stepped out of bed and broke into the store using a loose window. She used a key next to the register to unlock the man's door, and she noticed that most of his jewels were laying on the end table next to him. Without thinking, she carefully scooped up the silverware, half the money, and some jewelry from his possessions and raced back to her house, dumping everything inbetween her mattresses. She was uncomfortable that night, filled with fear of what she'd done.
The next morning, as suspected, the man screamed of a thief. However, Moriko's mother and father had an alibi, and the police never expected a little girl to steal. In a month, it was time to go to Cerulean City and buy things they needed and sell things they didn't. Moriko begged to come along, faking that she had found some berries in the Cerulean Forest and she wanted to haggle for them. Her mother agreed for her to come along, although Moriko's sack wasn't filled with berries.
Moriko approached the stall and emptied the jewelry onto the stand of the receiving end as her mother left to buy food and clothing. With an innocent-sounding lie, Moriko left with several fistfuls of currency. She hid this under her mattress, slowly slipping a couple of dollars into her mother's purse every day. When asked, years later, how she had come across the money, Moriko had an alibi. As she had gone to every convention for years, she simply said that she was harvesting berries for the money.
When if finally came time to be on her own, Moriko had mastered the art of breaking into places through a window. She eventually promised her parents that she was going to become a Pokemon Trainer, and that she was leaving to travel. She traveled, all right; she traveled all throughout Kanto, stealing whatever she pleased and selling it so that she would live. What she couldn't use for herself (not enough to draw suspicion) she would give to the less fortunate. Until, of course, a heist went bad.
It was a trap; several officers of Kanto caught her in the act and she was imprisoned for three years. Upon her release, Moriko left for Unova and a new region. It was time to finally become a Pokemon Trainer... and maybe do a little thieving on the side.
RP Sample:[/u] Moriko lay on her back, the wish-wash of the tide intruding through the windows. While she had no hatred for the ocean, she was, indeed, a little seasick. She brushed her short hair back and sat up, nearly banging her head on the ceiling. She had chosen top bunk, but now she was regretting it. "So now even short people can bump their heads. That's a smart design choice." Her pajamas were comfortable; simply something she got from her diligent years of acquiring items for trade. She heard that something called "Team Universe" was spreading, and she knew it was both good and bad for her hobby. People would begin locking windows and doors, but then again, she had some experience with a bobby pin and a screwdriver, if it was that kind of lock. At least her new "career", Pokemon Training, would provide her a good alibi for when she was caught in the forest miles away from any kind of city. Plus, never sleeping in the same place got lonely... perhaps she could use some companionship.
"What am I thinking? This is no time to start preparing for the future. It can wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow, I'll reach Nuvema Town, and I can begin from there."
Annoyed with her time-wasting inner monologue, Moriko fell back onto her bed and began counting Flaaffys*.
*Because counting Mareep is too mainstream.
